Confirmation

Celebrating a Sacrament is an important step in the life of your child as a Roman Catholic Christian.  To make these celebrations joyful and successful, the following dates and times have been set for formation.  Early preparation allows the families to take the time necessary to plan and organize their calendars to alleviate any potential conflicts and to help to make another great year of Sacramental celebrations.

Confirmation Candidates will need to be accompanied by either a sponsor or proxy for their scheduled preparation dates.  The sponsor for the confirmation Candidate must be an active and fully initiated member of the Catholic Church.  All our youth preparing for the Sacraments must have also participated in formal religious education for the past two years at St. Mary of the Woods School, Parish Religious Education Program, or an approved home school program.  Through the Sacramental preparations, your child will continue to grow and learn from God, from you, and the Church community.  A wonderful gift is given to us through Jesus Christ our Lord.  We look forward to working with our youth and their families.

DIOCESE SAFE ENVIRONMENT INFORMATION
Please visit the Diocese of Owensboro website to complete all information to become Safe Environment trained:

  https://owensborodiocese.org/safe

The mission of the diocese’s “Safe Environment Program” is to insure the safety of children and young people who have been entrusted to our care in our parishes, schools, religious education classes, and other programs.

We pursue this mission in four ways:

  1. By thoroughly screening and supervising all Church ministers, employees and volunteers who work with children and young people as part of their ministry.
  2. By providing appropriate training in recognizing and reporting child abuse.
  3. By verifying that all Church ministers, employees and volunteers who work with children and young people are prepared to follow Christ-centered and professional codes of conduct and respond appropriately to allegations of sexual abuse.
  4. By providing the opportunity for every minor in Catholic schools and parish faith formation programs to participate annually in a safety training covering the topics of sexual abuse prevention and the need to tell if abuse is occurring.

To report suspected abuse call the Kentucky Child Protection Hot Line: 1-877-KYSAFE1 or 1-877-597-2331 (Toll Free) or contact your local Commonwealth Attorney.

To report abuse to the diocese, current or past, by anyone acting in the name of the Church, please call: (270) 852-8380 | Pastoral Assistance Coordinator
